THIS is, without doubt, a day for celebration. Bolton Wanderers, Bolton Council and developers Orbit today signed contracts on the £150 million sports village development at Horwich.
The move will give Bolton one of the best sports and leisure facilities in the country, creating more than 3,000 new jobs and pushing our football club to the top of the ladder in league facilities.
As Cllr Bob Howarth points out, it is a massive vote of confidence in the future of Bolton. And, in terms of importance for the development of this town, it is likely to be as momentous as the day in 1779 when Samuel Crompton unveiled his Spinning Mule.
