A £600,000 scheme to upgrade more of Bolton's century-old sewers gets under way next week.
The project involving the system in High Street, Bridgeman Street, Lever Street and Moncrief Street will use the latest pipeline technology to try to minimise disruption.
Two-way traffic will be maintained throughout the work, which is being funded by North West Water, but motorists will find that some parking restrictions will have to be implemented at various times during the 12-week contract.
Modern no-dig techniques will be used which will enable a new sewer to be inserted into the existing pipe to renew it.
The whole length of the sewer will not be excavated though there will be some digging to reconstruct manholes.
Letters have gone out to people living in the area warming about the work.
