PUPILS of Kearsley's George Tomlinson High School who were affected by fumes in a science lesson yesterday have been given the all clear.
As reported in later editions of last night's BEN , nine pupils from the Kearsley school were taken to Bolton General Hospital following the fumes scare.
The Year 10 youngsters had been conducting an experiment in a chemistry lesson when they were overcome by vapours. When a number of pupils said they were feeling sick it was decided they should go to hospital as a precautionary measure.
Head teacher, Mr Tony Buckley, stressed that the science lab had been well ventilated at the time of the incident with classroom doors and windows open.
He said: "All the safety regulations had been followed.
"The room was well ventilated and the children were wearing goggles.
"This is an experiment that has been carried out before without any problems."
After checks at Bolton General's casualty department the children returned to school or went home.
