A SERIES of urgent roadworks using the latest recycling techniques gets underway today with some disruption to traffic.
The road recycling method saves 50 per cent of the time used by conventional reconstruction techniques which leads to less disruption and saves costs.
The first scheme starts at Broadford Road, Deane between Junction Road and the triangular traffic island at Armadale Road where traffic lights will be in place.
On the same road a week today, the section from the triangular traffic island to The Walkway will be closed to all traffic.
The following week, starting Monday October 14, roadworks start at Milnthorpe Road, Breightmet, from Breightmet Fold Lane to Deepdale Road, and on Monday October 21 at Armadale Road, Deane from Blairmore Drive to Wendover Drive.
For the latter three schemes the roads are closed to all through traffic although vehicle access may be available for residents but cannot be guaranteed.
Each programme of work will take about two to three weeks to complete.
The environmentally friendly process using existing raw materials in the road as a linear quarry, is being carried out by Colaf Ltd and Bolton Council's Environmental Management Unit.
