THE trial is due to begin on Wednesday of an auxiliary nurse accused of the attempted murder of a patient at Bolton General Hospital. The case against Shaun Philip Darrock, aged 22, of Gilnow Gardens, Bolton, had been scheduled to open at Manchester Crown Court today but was put back at the last minute. No reason was given.
Darrock is charged with the attempted murder of William Winnard, aged 61, on January 28 this year. He is also accused of ill-treating another patient George Hunt, aged 86, while working as an auxiliary on the J2 ward at the hospital.
Another charge of attempted murder and one of ill-treatment against Darrock were thrown out by Bolton Magistrates in June.
