Have you ever been to Haslingden Grane?
There's much there to observe.
You can walk around the reservoirs or climb
Musbury Hill, if you've the nerve.
Now rumour has it, I have heard,
That those hills possess a very rare bird.
If you wait a while you'll say with a grin,
Is it a bird or a plane? No, it's a peregrine.
A peregrine is a bird of prey,
That soars and floats like a kite.
It crashes into little birds,
So he can get a bite!
Not many people see this bird,
Although it is dearly loved.
The only chance they get to see,
Is one that has been stuffed.
So, if you're out walking and happen to see
A peregrine by chance.
Don't leave it all on its own,
Invite it to a barn dance. Mr Oscar,
Halliwell, Bolton.
