BURY boss Stan Ternent, believes his side must get back to basics.

The Shakers go in search of their first victory in seven games in the big local derby with Burnley at Gigg Lane tomorrow night with Ternent demanding an end to the defensive madness which cost them points at Walsall on Saturday.

Ternent was furious with Bury's unusually slack marking which cancelled out an otherwise dominant performance.

"We have got to get back to base camp" explained Ternent. "I was absolutely disgusted with the marking on Saturday because we pride ourselves on that.

"We will get back to work again today and get it right one way or another. We have got to get the bases of the side right again and we have to stop conceding these silly goals otherwise we are going nowhere fast.

"We have had a good start to the season and still lost only two league games and I still feel we have the makings of a really good side."

Bury could give skipper David Pugh his first start against Burnley since he broke his elbow in the second game of the season.

Pugh came through 30 minutes as substitute at Walsall and will face a fitness test along with Gordon Armstrong and Ronnie Jepson who missed Saturday's defeat.
