MUM Michelle Farrell is set to get her Christmas present nearly a year after she first decided what to have.

After a court case last week she can finally draw to a close a long running row over new curtains and cushions.

Last October, her dad Jack Gerrard promised his family a bumper Christmas after winning a £14,500 jackpot on the bingo.

Excited Michelle of Filton Avenue, Bolton opted for a pair of two seater settees and matching fabric worth nearly £2,000 from Manchester furniture store UNO.

The family claim they were promised that the fabric would be despatched immediately so Michelle could start sewing her cushions and curtains ready for when the suite was delivered a few days before Christmas.

But the manufacturer went bust, the fabric never arrived and the cushions on the sofas did not match exactly.

UNO promised to put everything right after the festive holidays but Michelle, who had already sold her old settee, refused and asked for the money back so she could go elsewhere.

Last week the furniture store finally agreed to pay up £288 for the fabric, £300 deposit, £60 costs and interest, just before the matter was due to be heard at Bolton County Court.

Delighted dad Jack Gerrard who battled for the refund said: "Everybody tried to make out we were being unreasonable. But if they cannot meet the delivery dates they should offer refunds straight away."

A spokesman for UNO said they had done all they could to honour the delivery dates after one of their suppliers went bust.

He said Michelle had been offered the settees on time with "slight cosmetic faults" which would be put right after Christmas, but she refused to accept.
