A QUICK-thinking warden prevented a blaze in a block of old people's flats in Farnworth last night.
The warden was alerted by a smoke alarm at Maxton House, Farnworth.
He dashed to the flat where the alarm had been triggered and found the occupant had left a chip pan on the cooker.
The warden put out the flames and called out the fire brigade.
Nobody was hurt but the kitchen was badly damaged.
