TORRENTIAL rain has failed to make a drop of difference to the drought in the North-west.
Water chiefs say the downpours failed to push rainfall in the region over 56 per cent of the normal levels expected for September.
Stocks in reservoirs serving Bolton are still only a third full.
North West Water and the Environment Agency have held talks to discuss lifting the hosepipe ban.
But water supply general manager, Peter Birtwistle, said: "Clearly the lack of rainfall this month means current restrictions will have to stay in place for the present."
NWW claim efforts to increase the supply of water and plug leaks have led to an extra 235 million litres of water per day for the region.
And they have produced the The Leak Spotter's Guide which is available free on 0645 543210.
