COMPANIES in Bolton and Bury are being invited to an Environmental Awareness Breakfast tomorrow morning. It is being held from 8am to 10.30am at the BITE Centre on the Eagle Campus at Bolton Institute.
Participants will be told about subsidised environmental reviews for small and medium-sized companies. European grants mean the reviews cost £50 a day instead of the usual £250.
Tomorrow's event will include representatives of some of the companies who have already benefited from the scheme. They include Bellhouse Hartwell, CMP Batteries, Beldam Crossley, Trumeter and Warner Foster. A Bolton Institute spokesman said companies and consumers were increasingly aware of European environmental regulations and were asking suppliers for proof of awareness of environmental issues when buying products.
"Some banks and insurance companies now insist on environmental certification from companies who want to do business with them," he said.
