A BOLTON comprehensive school is leading the way in the Information Technology field.
Smithills School is working hand in hand with industry to develop a work-based skills programme, known as Futures, which is aimed at taking youngsters into the working world.
Students in Year 7 enjoy the challenge of making a video, giving a presentation, desk top publishing and designing a housing estate.
Introduced in September last year, the Futures scheme aims to encourage students to share a sense of responsibility for their actions and to demonstrate they have a role to play in shaping society.
