COLIN Todd and Mark McGhee look set to escape an FA rap after their flare-up in the duel of the Wanderers.

Referee Neil Barry, who was at the centre of the 89th minute flashpoint that marred last night's magnificent Molineux clash, confirmed today that he will not be reporting the Bolton and Wolves managers.

It had been feared the last minute scenes, sparked by the dismissal of Darren Ferguson for flooring Michael Johansen, would lead to the managers facing a disrepute charge.

But the Scunthorpe official said: "I shall not be making any reference to that in my report.

"Any action would be a matter for the stewards if they felt unhappy about it."

Todd and McGhee squared up as all 22 players clashed in a brawl after the Bolton boss had raced onto the pitch to protest after Johansen had been felled.

But a handshake at the final whistle and calm words in the immediate aftermath of the Molineux drama took the heat out of the situation.

Todd made light of the controversy and explained: "We didn't square up. The ref just told me to get back into the dugout and I simply told him to get their manager in the dugout.

"We just had a very pleasant chat.

"We were just talking about something that happened two or three years ago! There was nothing in it and it shouldn't overshadow a terrific performance."

McGhee, who backed Mr Barry's decision to show Ferguson the red card, said he ran onto the pitch to calm Todd down.

He complained: "They (the Bolton bench) were on the pitch after they'd scored the first goal and they were on again when Darren was sent off.

"What the hell's it got to do with us going on the pitch? That doesn't help anybody. I just went on to calm Colin down."
