REGULARS and staff at three local pubs are determined to make this Christmas one to remember for dozens of needy families.
Quincey's in Westhoughton, the Blundell Arms in Horwich and Turton Heights in Turton will be doing their bit to provide toys for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children.
Charity fund-raising champions Premier House, who run the pubs, are teaming up with the NSPCC to collect Christmas gifts for the families.
Collection boxes will be installed in the pubs during October and November and customers will be asked to donate unwrapped, new gifts.
Over the past three years, Premier House pubs throughout the county have also been involved in fund-raising for the national charity, ChildLine, and staff and customers have collected more than £65,000.
Managing Director of Premier House, Trevor Upton said: "Our customers have been magnificent in raising funds for ChildLine and we are confident that they will now help us support the NSPCC which is also an immensely important charity.
"Premier House's success and reputation has been built upon catering for families and it is appropriate that both national charities are dedicated to helping families and children who find themselves in unfortunate circumstances."
NSPCC Regional Director for the North West commented: "The NSPCC always has a desperate need for new toys for the children attending its many teams and projects throughout the UK.
"We are delighted to be the recipients of the Christmas Gift Appeal and I know that the toys will bring hours of joy to children who have suffered the trauma of abuse."
