SIR: I was watching Sunday League Football in Leverhulme Park at the Tonge Fold side when I was delighted to see that the Parks Department had installed a pair of benches; good durable metal ones, cemented into the ground, I hope make them vandal resistant. But can someone explain why they are both sited facing away from the pitches they are next to? It cannot be because the view can be thought to be better, one faces the metal changing hut, the other the graveyard wall while behind them the view is over the field and the rest of the park.
