THE game of the day in the Unibond Division 1 tomorrow is unarguably RADCLIFFE BORO, second in the table and unbeaten in the last seven league games, at home to unbeaten leaders Lincoln United.
The Stainton Park outfit unfortunately lost the opening two games of the season but are only two points adrift of United.
Boro manager Kevin Glendon welcomes back midfielder Jon Senior and full back David Bean after injury. This follows hot on the heels of defenders Ian Phillips and Andy Brown, striker Peter McRae and midfielder Tony Cammileri all returning last weekend. This leaves only long-term absentees Frankie Bunn (knee), Danny Donachie (ankle) and Andy Kilner (knee) unavailable to Glendon.
With virtually a full squad to select from and a large crowd expected, Boro have every opportunity to go top of the Division 1 table and really put the pressure on the chasing pack.
IT's back to the bread and butter of the league for LEIGH RMI tomorrow as they make their second long journey in four days, this time travelling to Worksop.
Their midweek FA Cup Replay victory at Billingham extended their unbeaten run to 10 games but was achieved at no little cost.
Central defenders Mark Schofield and Graham Hill could become long-term casualties, both being carried off inside the first half hour.
Hill has pulled a groin while Schofield looks the more serious with a torn calf muscle. Mick Charlton is still not 100 per cent fit so manager Steve Waywell has selection difficulties in the centre of his defence.
But his problems could be eased by the return of Tony Edwards who has had the plaster removed from his broken wrist and also the form of "play anywhere" Paul Wheeler.
He was man-of-the-match at Billingham when he was forced into a central defensive position and he could continue in that role at Worksop although Steve Walmesley will no doubt come into the reckoning.
"Our success in the Cup competition has meant we have fallen behind with our league matches so it is important that we continue our good run, but tomorrow will test the depth of our Reserves," said Waywell.
Squad: Felgate, Weston, Wallace, Booth, Walmesley, Wheeler, Bermingham, Ridings, Shaw, Edwards, McKenna, Fahey, Leishman, Smyth.
ATHERTON LR face a real tough away trip to unbeaten Stocksbridge Park Steels. This will be the first league meeting but the two did clash four years ago in the FA Vase.
After a draw at Crilly Park, LR travelled across to Sheffield and won the replay. Hopefully that's a good omen but certainly the players can look forward to the trip as the playing surface at Bracken Moor Lane is one of the very best in the Unibond League.
Manager Dave Morris is hoping Tony Pemberton will have recovered from a knee injury that kept him out of the 3-2 away defeat at Curzon Ashton in the Challenge Cup in midweek. Mattie Brooks and Paul Griffin will both have late fitness tests and Damien Kelly is looking to have shaken off the after-effects of a bad cold.
ATHERTON COLLS joint managers Ian Lamb and Steve Walton have acted quickly to add to a 1st team squad that was beginning to flounder a little bit after promotion to Division 1.
Paul Rigby, six successive seasons with Unibond side, Great Harwood Town, was brought in and he scored two on his debut last weekend in the 6-1 mauling of Darwen although he is strictly speaking a defender.
Two signings from Mitchell Shackleton, Paul Rushby and Mark Sepple, both performed admirably in the midweek 2-1 home defeat by Clitheroe in which Colls absolutely dominated but amazingly lost out. Danny Mills has also been in superb form in his two games since joining the club from Chorley. Regular keeper Keith Schofield is getting married on Saturday so Walton and Lamb have signed the vastly experienced veteran Ian Senior as cover.
DAISY HILL face a real tough task in the FA Vase 2nd Qualifying Round with an away tie at fellow NWCL Division 2 side, Haslingden. Manager Jimmy Hulton has Phil Donlan and Darren Calderbank still available through suspension and will also be without the injured Gary Cunliffe and the sidelined Gareth Webster. Fortunately highly-rated young star Eric Rostron is back from holiday and top striker Roy Litherland is hitting top soccer form after his summer playing Rugby League. Haslingden, currently head the Division 2 table having gone 11 games without defeat since the start of the season.
