BOLTON soccer ace John McGinlay enjoyed an incredible double celebration at the weekend when his national team moved a step closer to the World Cup just hours after his wife gave birth to his fifth child.
The Bolton Wanderers star answered a last minute SOS call from Scotland manager, Craig Brown to join the national team for the World Cup qualifiers.
Lee was due to give birth to their first daughter on Thursday, but 7lbs 13ozs Amie-Lee put in an early appearance on Friday night. John was "over the moon" at the news and on Saturday, just a few hours later, he watched from the subs' bench in Riga as Scotland delivered an emphatic 2-0 victory against Latvia.
Amie-Lee is their first daughter following four boys, John, Michael, Jamie and Craig. Speaking from her home in Horwich, Lee said: "Amie-Lee wasn't due till Thursday but she just couldn't hang on for her dad. John was over the moon when he heard the news but he was obviously a bit upset that he couldn't be here because he's been there for all the others."
