A SEMINAR about the dangers of asbestos is being held in Bolton on Thursday.
Bolton Council and Bolton and Bury Chamber of Commerce are staging the event as part of Phase II of the Good Health is Good Business campaign.
A Bolton Council spokesman said: "Asbestos is likely to turn out to be the biggest industrial killer ever.
"In the early part of the next century it is estimated that 10,000 people a year will die from asbestos-related disease."
Although the use of asbestos in many forms was now banned, thousands of tonnes remained in buildings as part of the fabric.
People at risk are maintenance contractors, electricians, plumbers, heating engineers and painters and decorators.
The seminar, which starts at 6.30pm at the Chamber headquarters in Bridgeman Place, Bolton, will be presented by Steven Sumner, Bolton Council's Principal Environmental Health Officer for Health and Safety.
Places can be booked by calling the Euro Safety Week Hotline and asking for Debbie (01204 364656, ext 4384) or by contacting Judith at the Chamber (01204 526526).
