SIR: Pikes Lane, then Burnden, both place names. Why not Horwich Park? As one who has watched Wanderers from during the First World War, I have possibly forgotten more names than I remember, but when it comes to perpetuating a name one has to be most careful.
If personalities are to be considered - Jimmy Fay, 'Gentleman Jim' later Players Secretary - what an epitaph! Ted Vizard, another gentleman. I recall in more recent times, George Taylor, whose work among the youth was so tragically ended by the sale of Bromwich Street grounds.
Horwich Park - correct location, easily said and found on the map.
