PHARISEE, an exciting, new musical with a Christian message, will be staged at the Victoria Hall, Bolton, later this month. Composed and directed by Roger Jones, the show features the Christian music Ministries' soloists, dancers and instrumentalists who join the 120-strong United Christian Singers.

A former teacher, Roger first wrote musicals for his pupils to involve as many of them as possible in music-making and in telling Bible stories and Christian truths in an accessible way. He later helped to form the Birmingham-based Christian Music Ministries which he now directs.

The United Christian Singers are drawn from churches of all denominations in Greater Manchester.

They sing "Good news modern Christian musicals" under direction of Walter Brisk.

The UCS were honoured when they were chosen by the Rev Brian Hoare, during his year as President of the Methodist Conference, to make a tape of his composition, New Creation, for commercial release. Tapes of this will be available on the night of the Pharisee performance or may be obtained from the Methodist Publishing House.

Reserved seats for Pharisee which starts at the Victoria Hall at 8 pm on October 29 may be reserved at the Hall's box office on 01204 522569 (Monday to Friday 9 am to 4 pm) or by post from Reg Parry, 128 Bromwich Street, Bolton, BL2 1LL - 01204 526862.
