IN the Bolton Combination Premier Division Bury-based Seedfield Sports Club continue to set a blistering pace with a maximum return from six games.
The latest victory was 3-1 away at British Aerospace which opened up a narrow one-point gap over second placed, and also unbeaten, AFC Walkers who have drawn twice in seven games.
Seedfield's win was sealed by half time courtesy of a brace from Ramuaul and a single strike from Cassidy with British Aero getting a consolation five minutes into the second half when Collier scored from the penalty spot.
Goals in the second half from Harrison, Halton and Tonge saw Walkers bounce back from an interval deficit after Hardman had given home side Ainsworth a 10th minute lead.
Hindley Green will be pleased with a 5-3 win at an Ambassadors outfit that has shown recent good form after an indifferent start. Atherton C&N seem to have finally rediscovered last season's top form with a 5-1 win over a beleagured Blackrod Town side that is experiencing difficulty in coming to terms with life in the higher division and has yet to register a point in six games.
Fast-improving Hindsford had goals from Burton (50) and Crowther (85) to thank for an impressive 2-1 away win at Walkden with O'Neill scoring for the home side on the hour.
Abandoned
Sadly the game between Summerseat and Bolton Lads Club became the second Combination game in less than a month to be abandoned. John Ryder of the home side suffered a badly broken leg after 80 minutes. The result will stand and there can be no doubt that the decision not to finish the game was the best for all concerned.
The game to be replayed after goalkeeper Neil Kernick suffered a similar tragic fate three weeks ago, when only five minutes of the match had elapsed, saw Turton come out on top 2-0 at Stoneclough through strikes from Kakoullis and Kannier.
The first round of the Bolton Combination Tate Trophy saw Edbro Farnworth CC come out on top in a 5-3 thriller with Tottington United despite being 2-1 down at half time.
Brindle Heath against Ainsworth Reserves was another high scoring affair with both sides evenly matched, Brindle coming out on top in a last gasp 5-4 victory.
Howe Bridge Mills clobbered Ambassadors Reserves 5-0 and Mitchell Shackleton beat British Aerospace Reserves 2-1. Monton Amateurs registered a first win since joining the Combination in the summer with a 4-2 win at struggling Tyldesley United Reserves.
The league's two Eccles-based sides, Kersal Vale and Kersal Lads Club, flew the Combination flag proudly in the Manchester FA County Cup. Vale beat Moss Amateurs Res 4-2, while neighbours Lads Club did equally as well with a 2-1 away win at St Christophers.
