LADY Thatcher urged the Conservatives to "get cracking" and take on Labour when she addressed the Tory Party Conference yesterday.

Meanwhile, back at grass roots level, it was revealed that Bolton Tories have raised only £600 across town for the General Election.

While local Tories may deny there is any funding crisis, the lack of cash would seem to indicate either ill-founded complacency or a complete lack of confidence in a Conservative victory.

Either way, it bodes ill for the candidates who need all the help and cash they can get if they want to stop Labour steaming ahead at the polls.
