IN the second week of the Lace Mawer League hockey season Bolton First XI had to come from behind to share the spoils with Alderley Edge.

In a drab game both sides created few goalscoring opportunities and the game seemed to he heading for an inevitable goalless draw until, with 10 minutes to go, Alderley Edge scored.

This galvanised Bolton and they hit back with a swift attack down the right prompted by Phil Sandford and Dave Simms hammered home his second goal in two games to save a point for Bolton.

The Second XI comfortably defeated Woodley 2-0. They scored twice in the first half with strikes from tricky Richard Moore and then in the second half the Bolton defence, with hard tackling Alec Dean outstanding, comfortably dealt with the opponents attack.

The remainder of the club's four teams had a block fixture against probably the best club in the North West of England, Brooklands, and the results reflected the latter's superiority.

The Third XI lost 12-0, the fourths 6-1, with a consolation goal from Chris Smith, the fifths lost 6-0 and the Badgers 4-2.
