Burnden goes with many a tear

But I don't think that we need fear.

Brand new stadium big and proud

Waiting for the football crowd,

Coming to watch our national game

First the stadium we have to name.

No Reebok or Nynex, please be bold,

Don't sell our name for a pot of gold.

Think of times all filled with pride,

And of all those times we have cried.

Reebok never did that for us,

Nynex never gave us a buzz.

Directors and fans I would bet,

All love a name we should not forget.

His name is known both far and wide,

When spoken we are filled with pride.

A name we are all in no doubt,

It should not really be left out.

If some money you feel you must take,

Here is a suggestion I would like to make.

A new era for sponsors and fans to embark,

What would be wrong with,

Sponsors name stadium
