By Doreen Crowther, Showbusiness Correspondent ENGLISH National Ballet brings its new season's repertoire to Manchester"s Place Theatre later this month.
The Company will present three programmes" Coppelia and a mixed programme of Grand Pas from Paquita, My Brother, My Sisters and Etudes from October 28 to November 2 and Alice in Wonderland from November 25 to 30.
Manchester audiences will be the first to see the up-and-coming ballerina Marta Barahona dancing the leading role of Swanilda in Coppelia, partnered by one of the Company's most popular dancers, Yat Sen Chang.
Marta, aged 20, received significant critical acclaim in Manchester last season, making her debut in the title role of Derek Deane's Alice in Wonderland.
The Company's three new principal dancers, Daria Klimentova, Zoltan Solymosi and Laurentiu Guinea, will also make their Manchester debuts during the season.
As part of the sason, the Company will present Live Dangerously - Start an Affair with English National Ballet on October 29. Every seat in the theatre for the evening's triple bill be be available at a special low price of £7, allocated on a first come, first served basis.
The offer is made possible through funding from the Arts council of England. The evening will be introduced by Angela Rippon, Chair of English National Ballet's Association.
