BOLTON Deaf Society is launching an intense publicity campaign to raise awareness of deafness in the town. Their high profile bid, to promote the Bark Street resource centre, starts on Monday as part of the national Deaf Awareness Week. Information displays will be on display in the Town Hall from 10am to 3pm on Monday.
Other displays will be held on Tuesday in Little Lever Library from 10am to 12.30pm and The Market Place, Bolton from 9am to 4pm on Wednesday.
Bolton Deaf Society, which provide vital equipment to help deaf people carry out a normal life, will also be supporting Bolton Information Week starting on Tuesday, October 22, at Bolton Town Hall from 1.30pm to 4.30pm.
Visitors are welcome to call at the centre at any time and community groups are also urged to step forward to give the deaf society, a registered charity, a platform to promote their services.
Information on British sign language and deaf awareness courses are also available at the centre and school teachers can also pick up fun packs for hearing children to learn sign language.
Anyone wanting further information from the centre should contact the voice and minicom on 01204 521219.
