A BURY man was rescued from his burning flat after a midnight feast turned sour.
Brian Joyce, aged 25, of Price Street was taken to Bury General Hospital suffering the effects of smoke after fire broke out in his kitchen last night.
Fire fighters from Bury were alerted after sharp-eyed neighbours spotted smoke pouring from the first floor flat at 12.30am.
Fire crews were forced to batter the front door down after Mr Joyce failed to wake up.
A spokesman for the Bury Fire Brigade said that Mr Joyce had fallen asleep.
"He had put some sausages on the grill and had simply forgotten about them. "
Fire damage was limited to the kitchen and no-one else was hurt.
