IT was a major personal disappointment but John McGinlay will never forget "The Game That Never Was"

"I'll always be able to say I was involved in something that was absolutely unique!" says the Wanderers striker reflecting on Wednesday night's farce in Estonia.

McGinlay's latest international adventure turned into a frustrating trip. It took him away from home just as his wife Lee was about to give birth to their first daughter, Amie-Lee. And he never got to kick a ball in anger - unused as substitute in the 2-0 win in Latvia on Saturday then seeing his comeback dream turn into a nightmare when the Estonians failed to show at the re-arranged time in Tallinn.

"The worst thing was that we had to prepare as if we were going to play the game." he explains.

"We kept getting word that they were just down the road getting changed. They were already going to get fined for being late but we still thought they'd turn up.

"We thought they were doing it just to wind us up.

"Even when we walked out onto the park to go through with that business of kicking off, we were still looking over our shoulders expecting them to follow us!"
