UFO researchers are hoping a keen amateur photographer or video cameraman in Bolton can provide crucial evidence for their investigations.

Steve Balon is the local representative of the Direct Investigation Group on Aerial Phenomena (DIGAP).

Mr Balon, from Pennington, Leigh, has been probing a series of reported sightings of a dark triangular shaped mystery craft in the skies above Hindley, Leigh and Bolton.

But so far no one has been able to capture the craft on film or video. Mr Balon said: "The problem we often have is that people are so stunned by a sighting that by the time they think of getting a picture its too late.

"I just hope someone has managed to capture one of these sightings - I can assure people that any information or film will be treated in the strictest confidence. I know some people are frightened to talk because they think they won't be taken seriously - they will be if they contact us."

Mr Balon and other UFO investigators suspect the sightings could be of a top secret aircraft they believe is being developed by British Aerospace at Wharton near Preston. But BAe have denied that test flights of such a craft have taken place.

Anyone who can help Mr Balon can write to him at 10 Woodlands Avenue, Pennington, Leigh, WN7 3HL.
