THE annual Westhoughton Cattle Fair was held yesterday in a large field near to the house of Mr John Silcock, the Red Lion Inn. It was in all respects a great improvement upon former years, both in the quantity and quality of the stock exhibited. Of horned cattle there were 18 head; of horses 26, of which 23 were for agricultural purposes, and three in the class of hunters. The pigs shown were of a superior class. The pleasure fair was of the usual character, and the streets in the neighbourhood of the show ground contained a large number of stalls for the vending of confectionary and sweets.
