RELATIVES of a woman who was separated from her family more than 50 years ago, are trying to trace her and believe she may live in the Bolton area.
Ann Carey and her brother James lost contact during the war after they were placed in care and found foster homes, first in Styal in Cheshire and then in Farnworth.
At the time James was aged seven and Ann was three, and the brother and sister have not seen each other since. James was shortly afterwards reunited with his father. Over the years, James has tried unsuccessfully to trace his sister, and now his daughter Jo is trying to locate her through the Bolton Evening News.
Ann was born on December 1, 1941 at Meridian Street in Ardwick, Manchester. Her mother's name was Mary Elizabeth Powell.
The Carey family has tried to find Ann through the Contact Register and the Adoption Society, but Jo says they keep coming up against brick walls. The only lead they have is that she was living in Bolton.
Jo is appealing to Ann or to anyone who may be able to help the family in their search to get in touch. Jo can be contacted on 0161 681 6193.
