THE Bolton men's team had an emphatic victory in their Division One inter-league match against Mid-Cheshire.

Glen Payne, Jim Chadwick and Mick Dore all had trebles and Payne and Chadwick also won the doubles in a 10-0 thrashing.

Bolton League Secretary Christine Crumblehulme said: "It was a below-strength Mid-Cheshire side, but it was still a really good result."

Locally, the focus moved away from league matches to this year's Warburton Cup campaign.

Division Four Wingates 'B' took advantage of their 14 points start to clinch an impressive 5-4 victory over the Little Lever 'A' team from the Premier League.

Malcolm Jackson and John Gratton both won two and D. Nixon had the vital clincher against two for Ted Foster and one each for Phil Riley and Ron Durose.

Similarly, Heaton F from Division Five managed a 5-4 result with 16 start against MET A, another Premier team.

Fred Martindale and Glen Roberts had two each and Steve Hyland scored the other while John Hutchinson had a treble for MET and Glen Payne added another.

Division One Horwich Bridge 'B' had trebles from Clive Taylor and Roy Davies plus two from I. Blackmore in their 8-1 victory over Hilton F (11) from Division Five, Adam Smart saving the whitewash.

Little Lever's 'B' team is through to the next round following a 9-0 victory in straight sets over Ladybridge D (9), who managed some close games without success against Keith Mills, Roy Costello and Paul Tatlock.

A treble from Chris Byrne, two from John Howarth and one from Paul Madden saw Division One Doe Hey 'A' through against the Lads' and Girls' Club from Division Four. Paul Brocklehurst (two) and Dave Parkinson (one) made the Bark Street reply.

There seems to have been a little annoyance during a Division Three league encounter between Withins 'A' and Little Lever 'D' with the blunt message on the match card reading: "Little Lever turned out one player at 8 o'clock".

Christine Crumblehulme is asking all players to start matches at 7.30pm where possible.

When the match got underway it resulted in a 7-2 victory for Little Lever thanks to trebles from Alan Lansdale and Mark Martin, plus one win from Garry Pilling. Brian Roberts and Dennis Hough scored for the home team.

Back to the cup and Bolton Road from Division Two managed a 5-4 win over Heaton 'E' from Division Five thanks to three from Chris Leaves and two from Irving Cordwell.

For the losers, David Mort won two and Colin Roberts and Steve Woods one each.

A Johnny Scowcroft treble and two from Brian Heyes took Heaton 'B' through to the next round against Ladybridge 'C' (7), for whom Phil Stewart notched-up a lone success.

British Aerospace 'B' from Division Three were another team to eliminate Premier opposition.

They won 5-4 against Ramsbottom 'A' with Roger Lee completing his treble by winning 26-24 in the third game of his one-versus-one match with Graham Hoy, who had two on the night.

Brian Young won the other two for BAe and Nigel Hallows and Steve McNicholas had one each for Ramsbottom.

The BAe 'C' team also went through 5-4 thanks to a treble from Robert Moores and one each from Mike Snape and Cliff Delvard.

Harvey Tench and Richard Whittleworth both scored two for the losing Memorial Road 'B' team.

BEN 'A' had trebles from Mike Heaton and Nils Ghosh plus one from Alf Gradwell in a 7-2 win over YMCA (7), who replied with one each from Jack Quin and Alan Weall.

The Meadow Hill 'B' team from Division Three posted a treble from Phil Noden, two from Stephen Jones and one for Roy Caswell in a 6-3 win over Hilton 'D' (5) from Division Four. Alan Revell (two) and Steve Roz (1) made the reply.

Secretary Christine Crumblehulme reminds committee members of the next meeting on October 24 and asks again that members remember to sell the raffle tickets issued at the start of the season. Results and tables
