TWO local companies have provided a big helping hand for students on motor vehicle courses at Bolton College.
The Motor Vehicle sector, which has a new, purpose-built workshop at the College's Horwich campus, has been given two vehicles for students to work on.
Vauxhall dealers Kirkby Central have donated a Vauxhall Vectra and Gordons - the town's Ford UK dealership - has provided a Ford Scorpio.
Gordons have also donated a diesel Fiesta.
"We would like to thank these companies," said Nigel Sowerby, Head of the College's Motor Vehicle sector. "The new workshop needed equipping and they helped us out. They have also supplied us with lots of components." Mr Sowerby said it meant that students could get up-to-date quality training which provided hands-on experience of items such as motor vehicle electronics and microprocessor systems, airbags, fuel injection and ABS braking systems.
The new workshop is part of the £1m first stage of Bolton College's Horwich campus refurbishment.
