LEIGH RMI 0
RADCLIFFE BORO 0 LEIGH RMI and Radcliffe Boro must replay their Unibond Challenge Cup first round tie after a goalless draw at Hilton Park last night.
It was a result that will suit Boro, taking the Railwaymen back to Stainton Park, with Bamber Bridge waiting in the wings for the eventual winners.
Although RMI extended their unbeaten run to 14 games, they were clearly suffering an hangover from Saturday's victory over Marine and have now got a log-jam of fixtures.
Second in the table Radcliffe frustrated RMI and limited them to just one real chance. Dave Ridings volleying Mick Wallace's cross on target, only for Andy Johnson to pull off a great diving save.
Radcliffe had two half chances in the first half but in the main it was a midfield contest with both sides cancelling each other out.
"I made several changes, but it was a lacklustre performance from us, but give Radcliffe credit - they got what they came for," said Leigh boss Steve Waywell.
"We were a little flat after the Marine game, but at least we kept another clean sheet and we live to fight another day."
Just when that day will be is yet to be decided but whenever it is both clubs will be looking for an improved performance to take them through to a money-spinning second round.
