You say that you love me, but how can that be,

You lock us in cages and won't let us free.

Rabbits and hamsters and budgies that fly,

You lock us in prisons, why oh why.

Us dogs are pack animals, we hate being alone,

But you leave us in houses all day on our own.

Can this be happening, it sounds very vile,

You lock bears in cages and extract their bile.

Can't stand, can't sit, in torture and pain,

Their pleading eyes are sadly in vain. Elephant, rhino and others, all killed for money,

We're becoming extinct, it's not really funny.

Badgers and foxes all killed for pleasure,

Their lives not important, not something to treasure.

Is your life important, oh yes it must be,

Mine's used for experiments, it doesn't matter about me.

We are only animals, our bodies you use,

But we are all God's creatures, not your's to abuse.

Because we can't talk, doesn't mean we can't feel,

The pain and the suffering is all very real. So just cos you're human please don't think it's your right,

Not to think of our feelings and consider our plight. Mrs B Harding, Church Meadows, Harwood
