DETECTIVES are investigating the cause of an explosion which rocked a small block of flats in Eccles last night.

The blast hit the building on Ellesmere Street, at 7.15pm, and is believed to have started in fuse boxes under the stairwell. Residents from all four flats escaped unhurt but were placed in temporary accommodation overnight, pending an inspection of the building this morning.
