JOHN Aldridge claims he was the victim of rough justice when he was accused of taking a dive at Burnden last night.

Gerry Taggart reacted angrily after the Tranmere player-manager went down dramatically as the pair locked horns in a penalty area flashpoint five minutes from the end as Wanderers headed for a well-deserved 1-0 win.

Aldridge, roundly jeered by angry Bolton fans, complained: "There was contact with Gerry, no doubt about it. I've seen penalties given for things not half as blatant as that."

The 38-year-old Republic of Ireland striker was distinctly ungenerous in his verdict on Wanderers. Despite seeing impressive young keeper Danny Coyne save Rovers from a much heavier defeat, he moaned: "We deserved a point. They (Bolton) were the ones who were panicking at the end, not us.

"They aren't the best team we've played. If you get at them, you'll get goals."
