COLIN Todd took delight today in declaring another "mission accomplished" after his barnstorming Burnden troops marched on in their battle to bounce back into the Premiership.
The Wanderers boss refuses to go overboard about his team's impressive start to the season, which has seen them take 29 points from the first 12 games - equalling their total points haul in the whole of last season.
Last night's impressive 1-0 triumph over Tranmere put the red hot title favourites five points clear at the top and a further three ahead of third-placed Wolves.
But Todd was keeping his cool when he said: "We haven't achieved anything yet and I'll continue to remind people about that fact.
"We still have a long, long way to go but things are going very nicely. "I prefer to concentrate on short term objectives and, in that respect, we set out after the win at Wolves to make home advantage count in successive games. We have accomplished that by beating Oldham and Tranmere.
"Now we've got to keep it going at Charlton on Saturday. Each game throws up a different challenge and this will be a new challenge for us to deal with. But we're going well, playing to the highest standards and showing resolve and resilience in abundance so there's no reason why an away game should be any more difficult."
Todd puts the scintillating start down to "team spirit and togerherness" harnessed with quality football and backed by a fierce determination to make up for the disappointment of last season's relegation. And he paid a glowing tribute to the Burnden fans, who continue to play a key role.
"The support has been great," he enthused. "The fans had the disappointment last year but they've rallied round and they are right behind us, which is superb."
