A BOLTON company is growing as demand increases for public sector surveillance systems.
BCS Security of Chorley Old Road provides equipment which includes traffic control cameras at motorway roadworks, town centre surveillance schemes and integrated electronic security systems in prisons, job centres and other public buildings.
The company has developed into one of Britain's leading suppliers in this field after being established in 1989 by managing director Brian Boardman and technical director John Clifford.
They have built BCS Security into a £3 million a year business in the past few years and now employ more than 30 staff.
With the assistance of Business Link Bolton & Bury they have just achieved the European quality management standard ISO9002 - in a record time of 15 weeks.
The certificate was presented to them by Corporate and Consumer Affairs Minister John Taylor during a recent visit to the region.
It was decided to tackle the ISO9002 challenge when major customers, including local authorities, began to insist on it.
Directors' PA Janis Haughton was given the job of leading the team involved.
She worked closely with Philip Stott, a personal business adviser for Business Link Bolton & Bury and management consultant David Bradley from Bury.
Mr Taylor said at the presentation ceremony: "ISO9002 is not only a mark of success, it is also a key to new markets and opportunities.
"That is why I urge other businesses to follow your excellent example and take positive action to improve their competitive edge by working to quality standards and gaining access to new markets.
"This achievement is also a resounding tribute to Business Link Bolton & Bury and to Philip Stott.
