SIR: May I though your columns draw your attention to what I believe will be only a matter of time before someone's life is lost either directly due to an accident or indirectly due to the delay of emergency services reaching their destination on life saving time.
I refer to the stretch of Nelson Street, Great Lever, Bolton between Lever Street and Weston Street, this being a major bus route and more importantly the main access road for the fire brigade to Bolton General Hospital, and also for ambulance services from BGH outwards to town.
After months of monitoring the traffic situation I have seen cyclists forced onto the pavement because cars are parked half on and half off the pavement.
This road is not wide enough for such irresponsibility.
I'm sure that if you look almost opposite MKM Gym you will see a massive chunk of waste land that could do for a car park.
For once I think most people would not object to a piece of land being turned into a car park.
