AN impudent robbery was perpetrated at St Paul's Church, top of Deansgate, during Sunday night. The thief entered the building, it is thought, during the sacrament service, held at the close of ordinary evening service, and secreted himself. On the apparitor (T. Crawford) proceeding to the church yesterday, he found the side door at the west end standing ajar, having been opened from the inside by a key which belongs to a drawer in the vestry. In the nave, he discovered that the coverings for the lectern and communion table had been thrown upon the floor. In the vestry and drawer had been disturbed and everything disarranged. There was nothing of value in the drawer, but the thief carried off with him a comb and a brush, a cork screw, a screwdriver, and a piece of scented soap.
