A LEADING information technology company has chosen Chorley as its North-west base.
Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), which employs 40,000 people at more than 600 locations worldwide, has announced that it is to create a major centre at the Royal Ordnance site at Chorley.
The company says this will be the focal point for North-west operations within its Aerospace Account.
It will provide a full range of IT support to multiple British Aerospace operations.
Up to 400 staff will transfer to Chorley over the next six months, starting before the end of the month.
There will also be new local job opportunities.
CSC is moving into a 56,000 sq ft prestige office building originally converted by RO for its former Ammunition Division headquarters before the run-down of the site.
Guy Hains, Vice President for CSC's Aerospace Account, said: "This move is creating a CSC base from which we can provide a world-class service for British Aerospace and which we expect will bring opportunities for further business growth in the increasingly buoyant aerospace market. Plans are well-advanced to recruit additional IT development and support specialists, many of whom will be based at CSC Chorley."
