A CRUTCH Amnesty has been declared in Bolton.
Local people are being urged to search out those unwanted walking aids - and pop along to the town centre tomorrow when they can ve handed in.
Members of Bolton Round Table will happily receive unwanted crutches, walking frames, sticks and wheelchairs at The Market Place patio from 9am to 1pm.
And the Tablers, with a smile of gratitude and no recriminations, will then return the items to equipment owners Bolton Hospitals Trust. They hope to reverse the General Hospital's budget for replacing these items, which currently stands at £10,000 a year.
Throughout October, Round Table in association with Bolton General, the Regional Health Authority and Nynex are giving the public the opportunity to give back medical items.
These can either be taken along tomorrow and next Saturday at the same time and place. Or, you can ring 01204-418499 and leave details to arrange free collection.
Posters promoting the amnesty have been distributed around the district, and the Round Tablers are hoping that householders will search through lofts, cellars, sheds and cupboards for the items so that they can be given out to other patients who need them.
