EVEN those who resent the "Big Brother" overtones of video security systems should welcome the fact that cameras are being installed at all the main town centre council car parks.
The installation of the cameras will cost £270,000 and we think it is money well spent. Car crime in the town centre has for too long been a problem in Bolton and has discouraged shoppers from coming here.
Not only will the cameras make it safer to park cars, but they will give added security to drivers who may feel uneasy about returning to car parks late at night.
This is an excellent scheme and should not only make Bolton safer but should encourage more people to come to the town.
