SIR: The recent survey showing that 56 per cent of executives welcome a change of government finally dispels the myth that Labour is the enemy of business.
Following years of boom/bust economics, the Tories traditional support is disintegrating. Over two thirds of those executives surveyed believe that the Tories policies have weakened the UK's position in Europe and almost one in four think Tory splits over Europe are hurting British business.
Robert Wilson's recent attack on the minimum wage has been shown to be pure hogwash. He says it will damage business - is that why the majority of companies look forward to a Labour government? The argument that business fears the Social Chapter is pure fantasy dreamed up by Conservative Central Office. Ian Gibson, Managing Director of Nissan UK is quoted as saying: "As far as levels of sickpay, maternity leave and holidays are concerned we are miles ahead of the Social Chapter."
I believe workers in Britain are entitled to be treated the same as our counterparts in other democratic countries.
