BURY'S dynamic midfield duo Lenny Johnrose and Nick Daws today responded to their boss's glowing early term report with a 'can do better' message, writes Neil Bonnar.
Gigg Lane boss Stan Ternent hailed the all action role his middle men have played in the Shakers' high-flying start to the season.
He praised: "Lenny and Nick work forever - they must have three lungs each the way they cover the ground.
"Their endeavour and commitment is marvellous."
Bury's style means the pair are often outnumbered - but never outfought - in the crucial engine room department.
Daws, who celebrated the birth of his first baby, Natasha Lauren, 48 hours before Saturday's 1-1 home draw with promotion favourites Watford, added: "Lenny and myself work well together and we feel we have been dominating the middle apart from one or two spells in games.
"But there is room for improvement and we both feel we don't score enough goals."
The Shakers could be set to boost their midfield strength with a special practice match set up on Wednesday to run the rule over a 24-year-old Dutch midfielder.
