BOTTOM team MET A had a welcome Premier Division table tennis win against Horwich Bridge A.
A treble for Darren Howarth and two each for Glen Payne and John Griffiths saw the visitors home 7-2 in a match featuring seven games which went to three sets.
Keith Rudd and J. Craighill replied for Horwich.
Also in the Premier, there was a 5-4 victory for high-riding Ramsbottom B against Little Lever A.
Two each for Paul Collins and Terry Taylor and one for Steve Dobbins countered a treble by Ron Durose and one from Ted Foster.
In Division one Wharton B kept up their challenge through trebles from Brian Doxey and Khahamal Hussain in a 6-3 win at home to Heaton B.
Johnny Scowcroft, Brian Heyes and Mel Brooks all beat a luckless David Kay.
The same division saw another 6-3 result when Doe Hey A beat Horwich Bridge B thanks to a treble from Chris Byrne, two from Simon Charnley and one from John Howarth.
Jim Collier (two) and Clive Taylor made the reply.
Heaton D maintained their unbeaten run at the top of division two with a 6-3 win at home to Black Dog.
A treble from Mike Dunn, two from Ian Craig and one from John Gibbons eclipsed two from Frank Green and a single from Duncan Kay.
Elsewhere in the same division Ladybridge A also won 6-3 against Heaton C, last year's division three champions who also won both the Warburton Cup and the George Yates Shield. George Simpson's treble, supported by two from David Bolton and one from Alex Waring, gave them victory against contributions from B. Dobbins (2) and Dave Holden (one).
In division three BAe B beat BEN B 8-1 thanks to trebles from Roger Lee and Brian Young and two from George Dawson, who lost to Dave Sanderson.

Meadow Hill B had a good win in this division when they defeated Ladybridge B 7-2 thanks to a treble from Phil Noden and two each from Stephen Jones and Roy Caswell.
Brian Lingwood and Ian Bateson had one each for the visitors.
Experience overcame youth in the division four encounter between YMCA and Bolton Lads' and Girls' Club.
Three from Jack Quin and two from John Swarsbrick shaded it 5-4 against two from Paul Brocklehurst and one each from Dave Parkinson and A. Byrne. Jubilee D - at the top of this division - came unstuck against Little Lever E from the other end of the table.
A treble from James Worrall and two each from Brian Hardman and Jason Whittaker took them to a 7-2 win - Keith Hardman scored the two for Jubilee.
In Division five there was a 5-4 victory for Heaton E against Jubilee E.
Two each for Colin Roberts and Steve Woods plus one from Geoff Mort gave them the verdict against three from Roger Bolton and one from the perennial Ron Ainsworth.
The fixture between Hilton E and Salford Police B in this division was marred somewhat by the fact that both teams were a player short.
Pete Jones and Dave Stevens both recorded "trebles" in what is recorded as a 6-2 result.
League Secretary Christine Crumblehulme says the next committee meeting is on Thursday, October 31 and not this Thursday, as previously announced.
