BAD weather forced Pioneer Sunday League matches to be cancelled but the games that survived proved to be entertaining affairs.

First Division leaders King William staged a late fightback to take a close 4-3 win over Farmers Arms. They were 3-1 down at one stage from goals from Ireland and Kirkman two. It took goals from leading scorer Tyler and a penalty from Owls to seal the victory.

Romac Systems returned to winning ways, scoring seven against Lodge Bank without reply. Dave Early, one of the leading strikers, was again among the goals. Masons Arms collected valuable points just beating Hare and Hounds in a nine-goal thriller.

Miners Arms and Cross Guns shared the points in a 1-1 draw.

In Division Two, City's 3-0 victory over White Lion was cut short, the match having to be abandoned due to a player breaking his leg.

Astley Bridge still can't find any form, going down 3-1 to Cheetham Arms.
