BURY boss Stan Ternent today ruled out an ambitious move for Wanderers winger David Lee.

The Shakers, in need of right sided strength, would love to take the quicksilver wide man back to Gigg Lane where he built his reputation before moving on to Premier League Southampton for £350,000.

They have cast envious glances at Burnden Park, particularly when he was out in the cold during Wanderers' Premier League campaign last season.

Bury fans would relish a return for Lee who they believe would complete the promotion-winning formula. But any club wishing to buy his services would have to pay heavily to persuade Wanderers to release a man who has figured in the 14-man squad in every game of their table-topping season.

Ternent explained: "If I could have David Lee back here I would have him back.

"But he is way out of our reach financially. His wages and transfer fee are miles out of our reach.

"Maybe one of the teams in our division with money could afford him, like Watford or Millwall. But I'm afraid we couldn't." BURY have finally been given a date for the delayed transfer tribunal to set a fee on highly-rated goalkeeper Dean Kiely.

The Shakers are hoping for third time lucky on November 5 after the original hearing ended in chaos when selling club York City's contingent walked out and the scheduled second tribunal was postponed following further protests by York over 'procedures'.

The Second Division rivals, who meet at Gigg Lane four days after the hearing, are miles apart in their valuations for the 25-year-old keeper who has proved invaluable during Bury's encouraging start to the season, York wanting £450,000 and Bury hoping to pay around a tenth of that sum.
