SIR: Much has been written about the problems associated with the illegal encampment of travelling/gipsy persons on land within Bolton MBC.
These people descend upon an area in order to trade therein, presently on uPVC fascias/gutters, tree lopping, asphalting, etc. They must be gaining work - you don't buy 'P' reg MBW's and Mitsubishi Shoguns without resources! (presumably earned legitimately!)
I would suggest that those of us who have to pick up the tab to pay for the problems caused by these itinerants:
Do not employ or contract with such persons for any purpose.
Lobby their MPs for a change in statute to enable the seizure of and subsequent disposal of any illegally-encamped caravan, associated vehicles and possessions, within 24 hours of an order thereto (obtainable within 24 hours of encampment).
One does not object to alternative lifestyles (I'm a caravanner myself) but one does not expect to pay for the privilege of these people leading such lifestyles.
